The Norman Public School District has partnered with Grace Skilled Nursing in Norman to offer incoming pre-kindergarten students a unique opportunity to experience daily interactions with the center’s residents through an innovative, intergenerational education program. Intergenerational Pre-K Program (Extended-Day Program) Music Education is also offered daily in our extended-day programs. There are only 12 students enrolled per day, with 2 teachers, creating an intimate and meaningful learning environment. Students may arrive at the BBA sites no earlier than 7:45 a.m. Students may arrive at school sites no earlier than 7:25 a.m. Extended Day Pre-K is provided at the following school sites: Adams Elementary, Eisenhower Elementary, Jackson Elementary, Kennedy Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Madison Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Monroe Elementary, Reagan Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Truman Primary Elementary and Wilson Elementary.Įxtended-day programs offered at partner sites (known as "BBA" sites or Bright Beginnings Academy partners) begin at 8:05 a.m. Classes are taught by certified Early Childhood Teachers and a Teacher Assistant, with a maximum class size of 20 students. Transportation is not provided.Įxtended-day programs offered at district school sites begin at 7:50 a.m. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer transportation for Pre-Kindergarten students. Requests for AM or PM sessions as well as updating immunization records can be made at this time. Parents who have already enrolled their 4-year-old in Pre-K must still confirm the student's enrollment in August at the school office. Requirements for enrolling are (2) two proofs of residency, a copy of an official birth certificate and current immunization records. Students must be (4) four on or before September 1, 2023. Some examples of those school behaviors would be working with others in small groups, listening as another is speaking, making choices, taking turns, problem-solving and building peer relationships. The Pre-Kindergarten structure and routine help students develop school behaviors that support successful learning in following years. ![]() ![]() The concept units integrate and teach across all areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, social studies and the arts. This early learning opportunity uses play and hands-on materials as a means of discovering and learning concepts that are of high interest to this age group. The program fosters all areas of development: intellectual, language, physical and social, emotional within an active, appropriate early childhood environment. Norman Public Schools Pre-Kindergarten program is voluntary and offered as a service to the community.
